Fuel Availability Along Interstate 95 In NC, SC, GA, & FL?

Plan to leave Virginia on Monday for New Smyrna Beach, FL. and have heard about some gas shortages in the Southeast, but, not specifically about diesel fuel. Trying to find out if diesel fuel is available along I 95. Any info/help would be much appreciated.

RE: Driving lights

When headlights are switched on the marker lights are on. If by driving lights you mean FOG lights, on our MH the fog lights only will illuminate when the headlights are on LOW beams and they are used when conditions require them. Daytime Running Lights are on when engine is running and the headlights are NOT on. We do not like DRL, but, it seems most vehicles now have them.

RE: Dog diabetes

Had a mini-Schnauzer {Scooter} for 11 years and 4 months that had diabetes for about the last 8 years. Scooter received 2 shots every day 12 to 12 & 1/2 hours apart right after eating his WD food. Recommend you follow the schedule your vet suggested. Vet did not mention the brewer's yeast to us. Good luck and hope your mini-Schnauzer has a long and happy life.

RE: Moderators..Spell check, is it working?

Is it unreasonable to expect Spell Check to operate properly? I am not an educated person and need all the help with spelling I can git. Spell Check worked fine for us the first four years on the forum. The advice to use another portal is good for those of you that are computer literate enough to do so, but, please be advised that some of us are not computer literate enough to use portals other than RV.net.
Thanks in advance to all moderators/moderaters for help with this peskey problim.
Any mis-spelling in this post is because Spell Check is not werking.

RE: Is service facility responsible of stolen unit?

The paperwork signed when leaving a vehicle for warranty work probably/usually includes the statement that the facility does not take or have responsibility for ANY damage or loss. I believe the insurance company is the responsible party. Not a great situation at all, but, it happens.

RE: Need assistance on removing a Ramco convex mirror

The convex mirror is STUCK/attached onto a plastic rig by 2 strips of 2 sided tape. The mirror and plastic rig must be pulled out {will Snap out}. Replaced our convex mirror after it fell off the plastic rig and broke during a 100+ degree week in Virginia. Ramco sent plenty double sided tape so 4 strips were used to stick-on the mirror. Mirror & plastic rig will snap in.

RE: DIY Lube Job

Will look into the Harbor Freight air powered grease gun. Lubricating the chassis, just as changing the engine oil, is a dirty job that must be done. There are some good suggestions in this thread to assist in the above jobs.
Have yet to hear of anyone being crushed by a MH, but, have heard of some cars crushing people. Agree with being safe ALL the time.

RE: how much oil

ISL probably requires 6 Gallons per change {6 gals. for our ISL}. Oil filter should be on the driver's side of the engine about mid-way of engine. Have a large drain pan and ask local service stations and auto parts stores for possible disposal sites. Recommend you lube the chassis while the oil is draining. Good luck and enjoy.

RE: do chassis with rear rad ever overheat re M8R

The rear radiator requires cleaning more often and, as noted by canttellu, it hinders access to the engine. We prefer the side radiator for those reasons.

RE: Chrysler 300 dingy?

Met a man that had towed his Chrysler 300 4 down for over 2 years with a Remco lube pump and without any problems. Recommend you contact Remco for additional information.
Another man had the transmission in his Chrysler mini-van fail soon after the lube oil pump failed.
Recommend you do much research on towing the 300 4 down.

RE: 2007/2008 CR-V and Protect A Tow

Is a Protect-A-Tow or any dinghy protection really required to protect your dinghy? The full width flap across the rear of a Motor Home seems to be protection enough.
We have towed a Saturn Vue for 2 yrs. and a family member towed a Ford Tempo for 8 yrs., a Grand Vitara for 5 yrs., and a CR-V for the last 2 yrs. All dinghies were towed without any protection and without any damage.

RE: Dolly or Bars

You must determine what is best for you. Go with either! Towed dinghy on a dolly for over 4 years and changed to 4 down when we purchased dinghy that could be so towed. We still have the dolly and will keep the dolly for it's versatility. Family and friends have used the dolly couple of times.
We prefer 4 down because of less tow weight. Except for sometimes kneeling in wet conditions we have found that the hook-up time is similar if a box braking systems has to be placed in the driver's floor and connected to the brake pedal. Have even seen kneeling in wet conditions to connect a box braking system also.
If you determine 4 down for you, recommend the ReadyBrute Plus aluminum tow bar WITH integrated braking system and any manufacturer's base plate. We chose Demco base plate because it required no cutting of bracing, metal supports, or front fascia/facia on a Saturn Vue. Good luck with whichever method you choose.

RE: When do you need trailer/toad brakes?

This has been thrashed about many times on this forum with many swearing that the LAW requires brakes on a dinghy above 1000 lbs {sometimes the figure used is 3000 lbs}. There are SOME states/provences that require brakes on dinghies. Most do not have that specific requirement!
The fact that there is no LAW requiring brakes does not mean you should never have brakes on the dinghy. There IS a difference between requirements and using your head because of the physics involved. Recommend ReadyBrute Plus tow bar {with integrated braking system} or the Ready Brake add-on braking system between receiver and tow bar.

Same as Briteskys for us as well as enough male to male connectors for connecting the lengths. Had 1 time where over 50' was required.

RE: Floor plan help!!

We prefer split bathroom and 2 lavatories {sinks} so one can be using the toilet room while another is showering, and a third can be shaving or brushing teeth. We particularly like a lavatory in toilet room with door, a lavatory in bedroom, and shower room with 2 doors which actually gives 3 separate areas when necessary. That arrangement is in current MH and works well for us when traveling with grandchild or anyone else for that matter.
Saw curb side dinette in some Gulfstream models when we were researching the move to a DP. We did not like the curbside dinette because of the resulting arrangement in the rest of the MH areas. Do not recall any curbside dinettes in gas MHs which we researched for our initial MH purchase.
